Akaroa has an amazing French history — a little slice of Europe right here on the Banks Peninsula. Get familiar with sea kayaking and feel how comfortable, stable, and easy sea kayaks are to use. Explore, experience, and escape with us as we get you up close and personal to the wild beauty this crater holds; it really is an eco-paradise. Akaroa is made of up two marine reserves and two land reserves. Endangered wildlife has made the harbour its home, and it is now a sanctuary where mammals bring their young to the safety of our sheltered waters.

With a maximum of 14 guests on each safari, 8 guests per guide, you’re guaranteed the best of care from our experienced local guides who go above and beyond to ensure a special experience is had by all. With the freedom to explore and enjoy while your guide takes photos and shares stories and secrets of the area, this is sure to be a highlight of your trip to NZ!

Your experienced, friendly, and knowledgeable local guides help you throughout your safari and are able to answer any questions you may have. Please have realistic expectations when embarking on this safari with us. Whilst wildlife is very common, nothing is guaranteed because wildlife is wild! These creatures are not in any way trained to respond to humans and may or may not choose to come and check us out on the day. Mammals are not tracked, followed, or fed, and we are very privileged to share this marine reserve with them. Different species may cross paths with us as we continue along our route. Every day is different here in our flooded volcano crater.

Join us for an amazing kayak experience with varieties of wildlife possibly crossing our path as a bonus. This is not a trip to Sea World; we urge that wildlife sightings are a blessing, not a right. We pride ourselves on being an environmentally sensitive business; we aim to have the least amount of impact on the ocean and wildlife possible and do whatever we can to preserve their natural habitat. The area you can explore varies depending on your paddling experience and the conditions of the day.
