CRUISE SHIP SHORE EXCURSIONS

Cruise Ship Shore Excursions In Akaroa & Lyttelton, New Zealand

Kia Ora! We love welcoming cruise ship passengers to our pretty little village! Akaroa has been voted Cruise Destination of the year many times and you will soon see why!

Our sea kayaking safaris are a very popular Akaroa & Lyttleton shore excursion activity among cruise ship passengers. Please book early to avoid disappointment. We welcome all ages with a good basic level of fitness and anyone can participate as long as you can get in and out of a kayak unassisted. We offer a fun and safe activity for couples, singles, families and groups of friends, there is no better way to make the most of your time in Akaroa & Lyttleton than exploring our pristine marine reserves than by kayak with your own nature guide sharing their knowledge along the way.

We love hosting visitors from the many Cruise Ships who dock in our harbors and are often told that our kayaking safari was the highlight of their NZ trip!

Transport from the port in Akaroa is not required as we are located in walking distance of the port- just a short 10 minute stroll down the street.

If you are coming into Lyttleton Port you can join our Crater Cruiser Sea Kayak Safari.

Lyttleton cruise passengers must book via this link to secure your transport and activity. https://www.leisuretours.co.nz/day_tour/sea-kayaking/

If you have booked a sea kayaking or Ebike safari with us, please meet approximately 5 minutes before departure, your guide will be there to greet you before you head to the kayaks for a briefing and orientation session.

The bowling club is the meeting point for sea kayaking which is just off the main road through the town of Akaroa.

Directions for walking from Akaroa wharf.

From the main Wharf where the Cruise Ships drop off their passengers and tourist boats depart from, walk off the Wharf and take a LEFT, following the shoreline & past some of Akaora’s bars, shops & restaurants. Keep walking on this footpath passing Akaroa’s beach area and then the BNZ Bank and then the Petrol Station.

Turn left when you get to the cricket pitch/recreational ground, the bowling club is close to the ocean and you will be able to see our kayak trailer from here.  The walk from the main wharf is easy with no hills and will only take around 10 minutes. It’s also a great way to get orientated with our neat little town. Check out the boutique shops, try some amazing coffee in our cafes, or try one of New Zealand’s best pies at our local butcher!

Our trips are scheduled to make sure there is more than enough time to complete the safari and also have a wander around the boutique shops and cafes of Akaroa.

If you are meeting for a mountain Ebike tour we meet at the fire station which is 2 minutes walk from the wharf.
